하지만 방콕 시민들의 반응은 회의적이다.
대부분의 사람들은 이런 방식으로 근본 문제를 절대 해결할 수 없다고 생각하고 있다.
현재 일부 상점에서는 마스크도 품절 상태다.
방콕 시내 50개소의 관측지점 중 30곳에서 초미세먼지(PM2.5) 농도가 위험 수준에 도달할 정도로 대기오염이 심각하다.
태국 당국자는 대기오염 문제 해결을 위해 노력하고 있다며 오염원의 60%는 자동차 매연, 35%는 오픈된 공간의 연소 물질에 기인한다고 밝혔다.

Thailand’s capital Bangkok has been grappling with dangerous levels of air pollution and the government is trying to resolve the issue by seeding clouds to produce rain.
By spraying the water droplets, it will help gather the particles, and cause them to drop to the ground just like rain that help clean the smog and pollution.
This week, government planes released cloud seeding chemicals, and they’re also using water cannons to help clean the air and streets.
We are trying to solve the causes of air pollution, of which 60% comes from car engines and 35% from burning in open spaces.
But residents are skeptical about the government strategy. If we continue trying to fix the problem this way, it will never be solved.
Meanwhile, protective masks are being handed out by authorities in the city.
But some stores say they’re running out of masks due to the high demand.
The level of hazardous dust particles has exceeded the safe level in 30 of the 50 districts
in Bangko, according to authorities.
The Thai capital has been ranked as one of the most polluted cities in the world.

그린피스는 1월 14일 태국 방콕의 대기환경지수(Air Quality Index, AQI)가 미국방식 기준으로 180에 도달했다며, 전세계에서 9번째로 오염이 심각한 도시라고 발표했다.
대기오염이 가장 심각한 도시는 인도 뉴델리다.
